Synopsis

A notable piece in the Theatre of the Absurd canon, Ionesco's Rhinoceros is set in a small French town where Jean and Berenger are meeting for a drink. When a rhinoceros runs through town streets, everyone is shocked, except Berenger. Philosophical conversations abound, as more rhinos run by the bar at various intervals. Eventually, the townspeople vow to stop them. Soon, people begin transforming into Rhinos. Berenger and his alcoholism are brought into light. This play explores skepticism and reality.
